Every three years on Good Friday, the solemn procession of the Triennale di Gesù Morto departs from the church of San Vincenzo and winds its way to the historic centre of Camaiore, bearing an image of the Deposition of Christ. The background through which the procession moves is extremely striking, animated as it is by thousands of oil lamps, which are lit by a customary 'cincindelloro' and hung outside the houses on wooden frames, forming compositions of great beauty and intricacy. This tradition dates back to the sixteenth century and established itself as a spectacle in the early eighteenth. It represents the most acute spiritual moment of the community of Camaiore.
