Archaeological excavations near the Abbey Church of St. Caprasius, Aulla, completed in 2003, have brought to light a monumental tomb with a stucco reliquary inside. Within the reliquary, some bones have been discovered which, scientific examination has shown, belonged to a man who lived in the 5th century. This is in line with oral tradition, which references the events of St. Caprasius at that period and the arrival of his relics to Aulla many decades after his death. The bishop during that period announced the authenticity of these relics, declaring St. Caprasius the patron saint of Aulla.
