The Feast grew out a historical study, commissed to Coop. It is run by the Opus di Siena in collaboration with the Univerità degli Studi in Siena and aims to commemorate the historical event of the “Census Offering” to the Abbot. Costumes, accessories and small shows are rigorously curated to remain relevant and attentive to the historial period of reference ( the first half of 1200). On Friday at 9pm, the ceremony in the Abbey del S.S Salvatore sees the Abbot concede to the residents of the village the possibility of establishing the Sabbatical market. On Saturday at 3pm, in the historic centre, there is the medieval market of artisan workshops and of tabernaie which stay there until Sunday evening; at 4:30pm the bell of Santa Croce is rung which calls a gathering all of the actors who proceed through the streets of the historic centre to the Abbey where the donation of the censors (horseshoes, wool, cheese, ecc..) takes place; at 9pm the program involves a medieval dinner in the cloister with dance shows, music and games. On Sunday at 10:15pm the solemn Mass in the Abbey is held with the participation of all the actors; at 4:30pm all the actors gather in San Leonardo where il Te Deum is celebrated, the procession then reaches Santa Croce and finally the Abbey.
