The first altar in the right nave of the Basilica di San Michele in Foro in Lucca is dedicated to Santa Lucia, whose wooden statue is located in a niche above a beautiful majolica by Andrea Della Robbia featuring the Madonna with Child. Every year, on December 13, for the whole day, the people of Lucca present themselves to the altar of Santa Lucia for the marking of the eyes, through which the protection of the saint is invoked.
