The project began in 2013 thanks to Don Domenico Poeta. The parish priest, pilgrim and lover of the Francigena gathered together a group of sculptors, mostly Japanese, to make works left along the route.

The sculptors, who were enthusiastic about the project, decided to return to Ponte d’Arbia every year to continue to pay tribute to the walk with their sculptures.
