On the first Sunday of August, the citizens of San Gimignano celebrate Santa Fina, who in 1238 was born there on the street that bears her name in a house which can still be visited today. A Mass in her honour is celebrated in the Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta, with the support of the town council. The next day, on Monday, stalls and stands spring up in Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Cisterna.
