A festival has always been held in Altopascio in remembrance of the parish's titular saint. Beginning with religious services and moments of reflection at the parish church, the celebrations reach their true climax with a procession on the afternoon of 25 July, when clergy and congregation bear a holy relic, the arm of St James, through the streets of the centre. These sacred and religious events, which are tied to the liturgical year, make up part of a calendar of events scheduled by the Municipality of Altopascio called Luglio Altopascese, which proposes a full diary of recreational, cultural and spiritual events on the plain in the summer.
