There are few remaining traces of the festival of San Pietro Apostolo, a eucharistic celebration that takes place on the afternoon of 29 June in the town centre of Pontremoli, at the church that bears his name. This day is closely connected to the festival of the Madonna del Popolo, which marks the beginning of the festivities. Recent years have seen the development of more secular kinds of cultural displays, which, during the days of the two festivals, enliven the historic centre with installations and performances.
