The Ascension of Jesus, a moveable feast and a holy day of obligation, is celebrated with especial solemnity by the community of Pontemazzori. Until the middle of the last century this day marked the end of the minor rogations; and across the whole parish people engaged in processions and acts of penitence as a way of asking protection and intercession in the harvest. Today the celebrations are confined solely to the day of the festival, with liturgical rites and a solemn procession through the village.
