The festival of the Madonna del Buon Consiglio celebrates the intercession of the Madonna which spared the community of Caprigliola from a disastrous outbreak of the plague that ravaged all Lunigiana in 1630. To remember this extraordinary event, the parish of Caprigliola organises a full calendar of celebrations, recreational and cultural, which in the three days before the second Sunday of September fill the beautiful historic centre with life. The illumination of the town is famous throughout Lunigiana, and, when seen from a distance, it gives the town the outline of a ship.
