In the Brescia of the 16th century of Saint Angela Merici, women were considered unequipped to face real life. Others decided their destiny, which consisted of only two possibilities: marriage or a cloistered existence. Establishing the company of Saint Orsola, le Marici gave life to the family of virgins who chose to dedicate themselves to God without shutting themselves inside the grilles of a convent, to be present where they were living, signs of God’s love for humanity. A modern saint, who achieved a true and genuine revolution, but in total obedience to the church. A charismatic saint, from whom even theologians asked for advice. Saint Angela Merici helped the pilgrims and herself carried out many pilgrimages, even to Jerusalem.
