An ancient land where a medieval atmosphere still reigns: the province of Massa Carrara is a territory rich in history and traditions tied to the via Francigena. The historic road travelled over the centuries by thousands of pilgrims crosses through the region at more than 1,000 metres a.s.l., close to Passo della Cisa. It’s in the Lunigiana that the Tuscan stretch of the Francigena begins, before crossing through this region brimming with castles and mysteries, coloured by white marble and surrounded by the soaring Apuan Alps.
