In Vinci, Leonardo’s city of birth, the Museo Leonardiano is hosting the exhibition Leonardo a Vinci. Alle Origini del Genio. Organised in collaboration with the Uffizi Gallery, it is based on the bond Leonardo had with his city of birth and on the influence that his homeland had his journey as an artist, technician and scientist. The exhibition showcases documents on loan from the State Archive of Florence that unequivocally reconstruct the very earliest events of Leonardo’s life in Vinci and the first drawing known to be his, Paesaggio (inv. 8P), dated by the artist on August 5, 1473, on loan to the Museo Leonardiano for the first 6 weeks of the exhibition. The show revolves around his early work, which constitutes a sort of palinsesto for all of Leonardo’s future work.
